Is now a good time to buy the Roo?

    Hi Guys

Interesting and profitable EA you have here, backed by a great community of users as far as I can see. I have a couple of questions as a prospective purchaser:

    1) Is now a good time to buy the EA? From what I can see in the forums, the EUR pair is not being traded due to the Euro zone crisis at present. And I believe that I saw a recommendation not to run the AUD pair currently - so presumably both pairs are turned off (for now)?

    2) I intend to run the EA on a Pepperstone Razor account at recommended risk settings - I take it this is one of two recommended brokers and accounts?

    3) Do you alert users of which pairs to turn off/on prior to the start of the weeks trading, and is this via email or just via the forum?

Thanks in advance guys, hoping to join the ranks of the successful Roo users sometime in the very near future.

    1) If you are looking at a long term view and not a get rich dream that blows your account in less than a year, no better time than the present, IMHO.

    2) Yes, Pepperstone is a good choice...high tick speed, variable low spreads, and good liquidity pools help.

    3) If possible, as advance as possible, but sometimes is it that day because of ninja news. You can sign up on the forum to have the forum send you a notification...that is what I do.

Re: Is now a good time to buy the Roo?

    Hi paulrozza,

I agree with all answers GEOakes gave in the post above. Only thing I can add is that sometimes (when we have time) we do also send out the Trade Alert by Newsletter. This may be duplicate news for most since they subscribe to the Trade Alert notifications already, but we want to ensure everyone gets the Alerts.

Whether to purchase this EA or not should really be your own decision. It needs to satisfy your trading style & appetite for risk and return. And you need not stretch yourself regarding the investment. By that I mean: don't buy Kangaroo for $499 to run it on a $200 account.
Other than that, we've had a great run so far, even with the EURUSD turned off.

Cheers and good luck in your trading,

    Dutch.
TulipFX has closed an excellent deal with ICMarkets. Pay $6 instead of $7 commission per 1 lot roundtrip trade.
Read more on this thread, including their excellent low spreads (0.1 pips average on EURUSD).

Thanks guys - onboard as of today. Will setup and wait for the green light on either pair. Pepper Stand on Razor, which is the way to go? And I presume it's worth moving to the new edge server as well?

Oh and in answer to GEOakes - I don't believe in get rich quick schemes, but I firmly believe in get rich slow schemes!

Re: Is now a good time to buy the Roo?

Anecdotal evidence say that Standard gets slightly better performance with Roo than Razor, but it's not a sure thing, especially since there is no clear explanation for it. What people observed is that Razor missed a couple of trades (which were profitable) while Standard got them.

The new Edge server(s) will be pushed to everyone, according to what Ozzie posted, and if that continues to be Pepper's plan, for me it's not very important whether I move today or am automatically moved in X months.

    Welcome aboard!

This week with the Euro meeting the markets will be jumpy with rumours and reactions to the talks - so yes best wait a bit. The market will still be there for us. Put the Roo on demo and run some visual backtests to get an idea of its workings.

Personally we prefer a Normal account - but if you prefer to pay the broker in commissions then get a Razor. Like mentioned, if you want to jump onto the new Edge server and take advantage of the increased liquidity read this thread http://tulipfx.com/fxforum/showthrea...rstone-Clients and pop us an email and we'll organise Joe @ Pepperstone to get you set up.

Of course any other questions post on the board and we, or our helpful and knowledgeable clients will help you out

    Hi All,

What are the details and guidance regarding brokers selection and so on for a US resident?
Should a US resident buy this EA?

FinFX and IBFX seem to be the ones people use in the US with the 'Roo.

Liquidity, variable low spreads, five digits, high tick speed are idea.

Re: Is now a good time to buy the Roo?

I have used both FinFX and IBFX and am a US resident. This is what i have to say about them. Avoid FinFX's micro account. Their ECN account is excellent, but their micro account is no good for the Roo. IBFX works great regardless of what type the account is, but due to their wider spread, I recommend increasing the stoploss to avoid getting stopped out due to spread being a pip too wide.

Avoid MBT. While it is true they have the best price feed of any broker I have ever seen, they have other issues that WILL cause the kangaroo to lose track of its trades. Again....avoid MBT.

I have not heard any good thing about any other US brokers in conjunction with the Roo.

    Cheers!
